Review & Swatches: ColourPop Super Shock Cheeks

Sunday, April 26, 2015

I'm usually not a big fan of blushers. I couldn't look pass them when ColourPop releases their cheeks collection 3 days after my second purchase, I knew I had to make one last purchase! If you missed my review and swatches for ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadows and ColourPop Lippie Stix + Pencil, you should really check them out!

Similar to their Super Shock Eyeshadows, their cheek products are also as smooth as butter, but it feels more "wet" and smooth than the eyeshadows, and it dries like normal powder blushers. I personally feel that the eyeshadows are more pigmented and opaque than the cheeks collection. Nonetheless, I am a big fan of ColourPop Super Shock Cheeks and hope they release more shades!

These Super Shock Cheeks are going for $8, that is $3 more than the eyeshadows. However, this is because they are twice the size of the eyeshadow. They have the similar packaging and the same snake pattern pressed on top of the cheek product.

From left: Aphrodisiac, Prenup, Mochi, Fox

Aphrodisiac - Matte
A soft beige brown shade that is perfect for shading/contour.
Prenup - Satin
A mid-tone plum pink for a neutral/natural make up kind of day.
Mochi - Matte
A cute and bright barbie/bubblegum pink.
Fox - Satin
A natural mid tone warm coral shade that suits almost every skin tone.

Most of these blushes look so vibrant and intense on the pan. I was shocked when I saw the colors when they first release, most of the colours looked so intimidating! However, once you apply them, they're so soft and sheer! Don't worry, they're very build-able, which is perfect because you don't want blushes that have 100% opacity at first swipe, it will be difficult to blend out.

What I like about them:
Wide range of colours
Smooth and pigmented
Amazing finishes!
Affordable!
Cruelty Fee!

What I didn't like about them:
Cannot depot the pans
You need to close tightly or else it will dry up quickly
Doesn't ship worldwide
Have to use fingers for intense colour.

Application tips from ColourPop:
Fingertips will provide the highest amount of coverage. Brush suggestions: Use a flat synthetic cheek/ foundation brush or a short duo fiber brush; flat synthetic brush will give more coverage and the duo fiber brush will give a more sheer, air brushed effect. WHEN FINISHED: Close that sucker up tight! Don’t leave the jar opened for long periods of time; you may lose some of the magic that makes the Super Shock Cheek so amazzzing. Colour builds from natural- looking flushed looks to more intense bright looks. … Build to your heart’s desire!
